Why can't I bid?

A blocked bid almost always comes down to one of these.

Common causes

• Your budget is already reserved.Every auction you're currently leading, plus every open outgoing offer, sets aside cash before it's spent. That reserved money isn't available for a new bid.
• The auction has closed.Once the clock runs out, no more bids are accepted, even if the page hasn't refreshed yet.
• Your bid doesn't clear the minimum increment. A new bid has to beat the current one by the required step, not just match or edge past it.
• The bid would exceed your budget.You can't commit more than your available budget covers, proxy maximum included.

What to do

Check your available budget against your reservations first. If it's an auction you're leading elsewhere or an offer you're still waiting on, freeing that up (by letting it resolve or withdrawing where possible) frees the budget for a new bid. See Budget and reservations and Auctions and proxy bids.
